In the Tools Workshop there’s an emphasis on demonstrating new systems and tools, development experience, deployment and use issues, and the perspectives created by these.

In its first edition, the Tools Workshop will take place in Brasília – Federal District – between the 6th and 9th of November 2017, as part of the technical program of the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Information Security and Computation Systems (SBSeg 2017).

Topics of interest

Works that present new systems and tools that contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of information security and computational systems are the areas of interest in the SBSeg Tools Workshop.

Tool Requirements

The Tools Workshop focuses on experimental results and functional systems/tools available for use. Although works in progress are accepted, it must be possible that these be demonstrated and are available at a URL along with its documentation, when the paper is submitted.

All accepted tools shall be demonstrated at their respective stands at SBSeg along with conventional presentations at the SBSeg technical sessions.

Instructions for Authors

Tools should be presented in an paper which shall be submitted electronically, through the JEMS submission system. These should be formatted using the SBC paper template. The paper should contain the following information:

Description and motivation of the problem solved by the tool;

Solution architecture and description of its main functionality;

The URL where the tool is available (the source code and its license should be present as well, not just the binaries);

The URL of the tool’s documentation, including installation information and requirements;

Description of the planned demonstration for the Tools Workshop, including the equipment necessary for such.

This information, along with the existence of the provided URLs are indispensable for the evaluation of the work.

Authors can optionally provide in the paper a URL with a video detailing the tool’s installation and functionality. The purpose of a video is to assist reviewers and readers that may, for any reason, have difficulties with installation. It is recommended to use some free video upload site such as YouTube or vimeo.

Evaluation

The evaluation process shall take into account the quality, relevance, and innovation of the practical results, the documentation, the submitted paper, and the demonstration proposed for the Tools Workshop.

Among the accepted tools, the best one shall be determined by a specific committee.

Format

This edition of the Tools Workshop will be composed of tool demonstrations and technical sessions.
