Presentation

The SBSeg Tutorials have the objective of covering relevant themes that are in general not offered by undergraduate course curricula and of arousing interest in the security field between academics and professionals. Up-to-date themes and themes with a high potential of attracting the interest of young students are prioritized, as a manner of better educate them for their research and for the market. Each tutorial should be structured for a total of three and a half hours, being able to include practical laboratory lessons.

Proposal submission

Interested professors/researchers in offering a tutorial should submit a proposal, written in Portuguese, containing 3 to 5 pages (excluding CV, item 6 bellow), with the following information:

  • Identification data: Tutorial title, authors, institution(s) and indication of the lecturer
  • General data: course objectives, treatment given to the theme (e.g. theoretical or practical, general description of the results or specific aspects, introduction or comparison between technologies, formation of new abilities etc.) and target audience profile.
  • Intended text structure (topics, chapters)
  • For each chapter / topic provided in item 3, write a summary of its content and a forecast of the respective number of pages;
  • Main bibliography utilized for the course preparation
  • Authors Short CV (max. 1 page for each author)

Observe that all the information above should be contained in a single PDF document. The submission of the proposals with be exclusively via SBC’s JEMS system.

Evaluation process

Each proposal submitted to the SBSeg 2017 will be evaluated by three or more members from the evaluation committee. The following criteria will be considered: relevance and actuality of the topic, technical quality of the proposal ans experience of the authors with the proposed topic. The best proposals in distinct themes will be accepted for presentation and publication.

In order to guarantee the diversity of the offered tutorial, the select proposals will cover distinct topics. This way, in the case that two or more submitted proposals cover the same topic (or too superimposed themes), only the best proposal will be selected, following the committee criteria.

Text book

The selected proposal authors should produce a text (book chapter) in Portuguese containing between 40 and 50 pages each. The texts will be published in the form of chapters in the Minicursos SBSeg 2017 book, to be distributed to the event participants. The book chapter template is available at the SBC web portal.
